Description:

Reports To: Employee Supports Manager

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday - Friday

  • This is a contract position for 12-13 months

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Having or working towards a degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2 years experience in human resources required.
  • Holds or working towards CPHR designation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once, work within tight deadlines and respond to all inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Customer service mindset, ability to be patient and available.
  • Strong attention to detail for following tracking lists and creating offer letters.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite is considered an asset.

TRAINING & SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid First Aid certificate required.
  • Police Information Check kept up to date (every 3 years)
  • Child and Youth Intervention record kept up to date (every 3 years)

The Employee Supports Generalist will support managers within their portfolio in recruitment, performance, and changes escalating to the Employee Supports Manager as needed. They will provide support with health and wellness within the organization and work closely with the rest of the team to ensure all governance and maintenance standards are being met within their portfolio.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment & Onboarding (45%)

  • Have regular check-ins with hiring manger to ensure their hiring needs are being met.
  • Attend interviews and provide advice in the recruitment processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with the team on continued improvement for recruitment strategy.
  • Attend up to 3 job fairs annually, acting as a representative of the organization.
  • Create offer letters and send out new hire packages, communicating regularly with new hires and hiring managers to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Ensure all required new hire documents are collected.
  • Be a part of the New Hire Orientation facilitator rotation (once every 6 weeks).

General Support (30%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with managers, and external partners to support the HR needs of the organization.
  • Oversee changes within the organization, creating offer letters as needed.
  • Support managers with light performance management, escalating to the employee supports manager when necessary.
  • Assist the team during vacation and sick time to ensure there is no disruption in service.
  • Supervise an Employee Supports Assistant, ensuring all files meet accreditation standards, and processes are being followed accurately.
  • Work on ad-hoc requests and projects from the employee supports team, escalating to other members as needed.
  • BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
  • All other duties as outlined by manager.

Workplace Wellness (25%)

  • Support the organizations OH&S initiatives in collaboration with the OH&S committee and the second generalist.
  • Guide managers through the leave processes as needed, ensuring processes are followed and employees are supported.
  • Track leaves, ensuring timely returns or communications are in place. Work with staff and managers to create return to work plans and modified agreements as necessary.
  • Support managers with WCB when creating a report and maintain communication with case managers.
