Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 technician to join the Elective Orthopaedic Therapy Team (Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy) in the specialist centre at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The role will involve working under the therapists’ guidance to provide care to patients across all areas of the orthopaedic pathway, including interventions to improve and maintain functional performance, and will be geared towards the individual needs and goals of the patients.
You will be required to work flexibly, to meet the needs of the service, including a 7 day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake therapeutic handling of patients to facilitate discharge and implement pre-determined exercise plans.
You will be working within a friendly and dynamic team with senior support and a wealth of learning opportunities.
You will be required to deliver and fit equipment across the Swansea Bay locality.
Be a fully engaged member of the Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Team providing a service within a defined area, supporting the therapists with clients who may have complex needs in a range of settings including: hospital, community, patient’s homes, schools and out-patient settings.
Undertake intervention programmes with individual clients or groups this may involve fitting and instruction on the use of adaptive equipment and mobility aids the supervision of adaptive daily living skills and leading therapeutic groups.
Supervise, monitor and encourage patients undertaking rehabilitation programmes, promoting independence and
engagement in rehabilitation.
Maintain clinical records (paper & electronic) and report accurately to others.
Carry out administrative duties in relation to clinical, service, departmental needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
