  Actual compensation offered will vary based on factors including applicable licenses, certifications, education, experience, location, qualifications and comparison with associates in similar roles.

REQUIREMENTS

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Counselor specializing in Genetics credentialed from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) preferred.
• BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted preferred.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Maryland Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or jobtransfer date required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time ofhire.

Provide genetic counseling to patients and counseling and coordination services for other screening programs.

• Identify families at risk for genetic disorders, children with birth defects, or a variety of other inherited conditions.
• Analyze inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence.
• Interpret complex genetic and laboratory data/test results.
• Communicate findings with physician.
• Assist patients with navigation of financial aspects associated with genetic testing.
• Assist with diagnosing genetic problems and develop, short and long term genetic counseling plans.
