QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Engineering or related field, technology from an accredited institution.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum four (4) years working in a high complexity clinical laboratory as a Medical Technologist, Application Scientist or Automation Engineer. 3+ years of demonstrated experience with next generation sequencing technologies highly preferred.
  • EQUIVALENCY: Combination of post-high school education, job related certification and/or related experience equivalent to 4 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
  • Previous experience with implementation and programming of NGS lab automation procedures using Perkin Elmer/Revvity instrumentation and LIS integration is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Trains in analyzing, designing, building, modifying, implementing, testing, and debugging new or automated assays, and systems integration to increase scale and efficiencies in the laboratories, as applicable.
  • Trains in preparing timelines, project plans and flow charts for the development or enhancement of new and existing automated protocols.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair a variety of laboratory instruments, including liquid handling robotics, provide real-time support for automated equipment during live runs.
  • Trains end user on instrument use and automated protocols, collaborates with the innovation team on programming and process design.
  • Trains and assist with gathering, analyzing and documenting business and user requirements, functional requirements, and data specifications. Trains in designing, writing, and documenting technical specifications to design or redesign applications.
  • Trains in evaluating, planning, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining application development efforts and/or reports. Works with applications staff to translate and document user needs and system requirements into report specification and/or technical documents. Integrates data between multiple systems for reporting as necessary.
  • Assists with performing liquid handling robotics tuning and configuring, developing backup and recovery processes during live runs, and coordinates system upgrades.
  • Assists with writing stored procedures, packages, and/or functions.
  • Participates in Production Support on-call rotation as necessary.
