ADM’s global Nutrition business encompasses Human Nutrition, Health & Wellness, and Animal Nutrition divisions. Our Health & Wellness and Animal Nutrition Research teams operate across four locations (Spain, North America, France, and Switzerland) and are dedicated to developing cutting-edge technological, science-based products.
The successful candidate will report to the Health & Wellness Microbiome Center Director and will be based in Lausanne, Switzerland. This individual will play a key role within the microbiology expert team, employing cutting-edge omics technologies and integrating machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications to both expand our microbial biobank and deepen our understanding of microbiome impacts on organisms. The objective is to fast-track the discovery and development of innovative, science-driven microbiome solutions for humans, pets, and livestock animals, thereby distinguishing ADM in the Human, Pet, and Animal Microbiome markets.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute genomics research projects related to microbiomes, including performing high-throughput sequencing and data analysis using NGS technologies.
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines to interpret and visualize complex genomic datasets, deriving meaningful insights.
  • Utilize omics technologies to explore microbial genotypes and their phenotypic connections, accelerating the discovery of microorganisms, enzymes, and metabolic pathways, while collaborating with microbiologists, data scientists, and other researchers to integrate genomic data with microbiome studies.
  • Communicate experimental progress and research findings to leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders, while staying updated on genomics and bioinformatics advancements to generate scientific content for meetings, conferences, manuscripts, and patents.
  • Manage lab operations and quality control, including writing and updating SOPs, and preparing for internal, customer, and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure efficient and productive workflows within the team, while scouting and evaluating the latest relevant technologies and techniques.
  • Support the development of our external R&D ecosystem by building high-level relationships with reliable partners, including scientists and customers.

Your Profile:

  • Ph.D. in Genomics with strong bioinformatics skills and hands-on experience, preferably applied to microbiology.
  • More than 5 years of extensive experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and softwares (e.g., QIIME, Mothur, R, Python).
  • Strong understanding of metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and comparative genomics preferably within microbiome science and its applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proven track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated innovation and ability to translate strategic direction into tactical execution within a collaborative, team-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with executive-level communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills for working in a global context.
  • Experience in managing proteomics would be highly appreciated.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally if needed.
