About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSc in Geology or similar field with 1-2 years in mine geology.
  • Previous underground mining experience preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, and mining-related software such as AutoCAD, Datamine, Acquire, etc.
  • A working knowledge of diamond drills.
  • Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear, and succinct manner.
  • The individual should demonstrate a high level of energy, self motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills together with a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Must either have a membership as a Professional Geologist in Province of Ontario (P.Geo) or be eligible for and working towards a professional accreditation in geology in Ontario.

Responsibilities:

To coordinate activities related to mine exploration and diamond drilling programs.

  • Conduct detailed core logging for surface and underground diamond drilling programs, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data collection.
  • Research information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies, or methodologies
  • Assist with daily underground production tasks, including mapping, digitizing, drill hole planning, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
  • Perform regular inspections of diamond drilling sites, both underground and surface, to ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards are carried out.
  • Keep on top of trends related to mine geology and incorporates this information into work assignments.
  • Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve technical knowledge and skill set
  • Enter and manage data in files and databases, generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports with a focus on accuracy and timely submission.
  • Other duties as required
