THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a passionate Geologist to provide geological support to the mine to facilitate the safe and efficient running of mining operations at Pembroke Resource’s new project in the Bowen Basin - the Olive Downs Complex.
Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres South-east of Moranbah and commenced mining operations in early 2023. Thiess has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full-service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul, water management and rehabilitation as well as the construction of the mine infrastructure

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Geologist, your duties will include:

- Passionate about being part of an industry leading team willing to think outside the box for best practice mining.
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology or similar, complemented by relevant experience working in an operational mining environment, preferably open-cut coal
- A solution-based approach to dealing with challenges
- Strong computer skills preferably including Geological Modelling exposure (Vulcan)
- Ability to think strategically and act decisively
- Solid problem-solving and good written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of mine operations regulatory and legislative requirements
- Previous experience in mining geomechanics is highly regarde
