We are seeking Geology, Geophysics and Earth Sciences who continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences or a related program at an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Note: Geology student roles start in May 2025
  • You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Please attach your most recent transcripts with your application
  • For some roles you may need to possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

  • Review geological data (geophysical and petrophysical logs, core descriptions, and seismic)
  • Create and maintain accurate operating sections and isopach maps to assist the production geologists
  • Update and maintain geologic records associated with aggregate exploration programs
  • Provide daily geological technical assistance including daily field monitoring and activities of all aggregate faces, as well as daily reporting of aggregate geological information
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support short range plans by communicating model or geologic deviations from the plan and by adjusting shovel dig locations as required
  • Complete field investigation programs as required to increase understanding of a particular area’s geologic anomalies

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is a 4, 8, 12 or 16 month work term starting in May 2024
  • Locations include Fort McMurray (Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo) or Calgary
  • Relocation support will be provided if required
  • Students who live and work in Fort McMurray are eligible for a cash allowance to address the cost of living and the remote nature of the region
