Responsibilities:
As part of our geomorphology team, you will provide geomorphological support and terrain analysis to OWC onshore and offshore energy projects, with particular emphasis on support of UK onshore wind projects, including provision of peat landslide hazard and risk assessments, peat management plans and habitat management plans. Day-to-day technical work will include ground interpretation, terrain analysis and geomorphological mapping, data management, data visualization and report writing. UK fieldwork will be expected in support of an extensive portfolio of UK onshore renewable projects. In addition, you will:
- Conduct geomorphological analysis of terrestrial and subsea environments using various data sources, including desk studies, public data, and project-specific datasets.
- Contribute to onshore EIA technical appendices, focusing on peat landslide hazard assessments, peat management plans, and habitat management strategies.
- Support ground characterization and modelling by interpreting active and historical geomorphological processes.
- Perform terrain attribute analysis to aid qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including landslide risk evaluations.
- Gather, process, and analyze terrain and environmental data in GIS, ensuring usability for other team members.
- Collaborate within multi-disciplinary geoscience teams at OWC and ABL Group, assisting with geospatial data integration and analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive reports documenting geomorphological, terrain, and risk assessment workflows, including text, figures, and GIS-based charts.
While the initial emphasis of the role will be in supporting onshore projects in the UK, there is scope to diversify into international projects, both onshore and offshore, in provision of geomorphological interpretation, terrain analysis and geohazard risk assessment.
This position can be based at either the Norwich, Oxford or Glasgow offices. Other OWC locations in the UK will be considered. The candidate should have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
