Description:

We are GeoSolv, leading geotechnical design-build contractor in Canada and trusted solutions provider to contractors, developers, owners, engineers and architects seeking cost-effective approaches to soil challenges.  We are design-builders focused on lowering soil-related risk for our clients and saving them time and money. We deliver a wide range of ground reinforcement/improvement solutions for new, existing, and natural structures. Our team of geotechnical engineering and construction experts understands that each project is unique and requires a customized plan to find solutions that are alternatives to massive over-excavation and replacement or costly deep foundations.
In this role you will be working with our Engineering Team on designs for project pursuits, completing full designs of awarded projects, and reviewing quality control and installations from the field level on projects that are being installed.  You will participate at all levels of a project related to design, from the project inception to its completion.

In the Project Designer or Engineer role you will:

  • Conduct engineering analyses and designs for design-build services with a focus on ground improvement.
  • Coordinate and prepare analysis, design, shop drawings and construction records.
  • Develop quantity information for estimating pricing/costing of projects.
  • Review project documents, specification and drawings in preparation of feasibility reports, proposals and quotes to support prospecting/sales efforts.
  • Attend meeting with structural, geotechnical engineers and contractors’ developers to support the pursuit of projects.
  • Provide technical feedback and work in a team environment with other members of the team.
  • Take on quality control and on-site work where necessary including testing and tracking progress and completion of other site related work including as-built and basic layout work as needed.
  • Complete quality control review and troubleshoot with Quality Control Technician either on site or from office.
  • Promote and represent GeoSolv in all professional settings.
  • Work on and travel to sites or offices within Ontario (other provinces where requested).
  • Organize and prioritize workload to meet project timelines.
  • Adhere to GeoSolv’s Health and Safety (H&S) Policy and take on H&S volunteer duties where required.
  • Other duties as required.

Training and coaching on job responsibilities will be provided through onboarding and as you gain experience with the team. For the first 6 months, the above will likely be related to a specific project or projects and your training will be immersive into all aspects of the project(s).
This position offers career growth, and the successful candidate will gradually take on with more design work as they learn the construction, site coordination, and quality control aspects of GeoSolv’s operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering Required, Masters in Geotechnical Engineering is an asset.
