Our growing Digital Advisory, Software Development, Data, Geospatial team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is seeking to recruit a Geospatial Analyst to join us. Our regional team is made up of a global group of geospatial professionals, software developers and digital consultants within Arup. We use our collective talents to incubate and deliver technology-led solutions to clients, and in doing so help transform the way that cities, buildings and physical networks are planned and delivered, to ensure a better world for all.

Working as part of a rapidly growing team in Toronto with a vision to become a Geospatial Centre of Excellence, you will be leading and/or delivering technical digital solutions related to environmental, planning and infrastructure aspects of local, national and international projects. You will work as part of a diverse, digitally minded team on projects of various types and scales, regularly cross-collaborating with other multi-disciplinary Arup teams to help shape a better world.

  • Deliver and help to coordinate digital support and delivery of digital solutions related to environmental, energy and infrastructure projects of various scales and types, working alongside existing digital and other technical specialists, with an emphasis on rail projects
  • Assist with technical memo / report writing, presentations and client engagement, with appropriate support from the team
  • Produce project related correspondence and digital deliverables
  • Contribute input / feedback to project leadership to assist with project resource planning for digital solutions and ongoing support requirements for your project assignments.
  • Assist and/or lead tasks related to data management, database design, visualizations, cartography, spatial analysis, automation/scripting of spatial tasks, web development, and many other digital-linked technical tasks on projects.

  • Collaborate with and support the wider Digital Services Portfolio team at Arup, through membership and participation in our internal Skills - - Networks to build relationships / network with regional peers and learn / share with colleagues on a regular basis.

  • Seek out and identify opportunities to leverage geospatial and other digital / related technologies to analyze datasets, produce visuals, and empower Arup and its clients to make better decisions.

  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of our safe, supportive and diverse team culture, through team events, sharing, and taking on Arup “Buddy” roles as assigned to help welcome and acquaint new team members to the Arup culture and support peers though the onboarding and training process.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree or Advanced Certificate / Diploma in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering, Information Technology or similar digital discipline.
  • Basic working knowledge or experience in Project Management or Agile concepts to support the successful delivery of digital projects.
  • Experience in working to support business development tasks such as work hour estimates or bid materials is considered an asset
  • Experience in detailed user requirements gathering and translation / mapping of requirements to digital solutions development pathways and functionalities is considered an asset.
  • Experience with platforms such as Code on Time, MS Report Builder, Power Apps / Automate would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Undergraduate Degree or Certificate / Diploma in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering, Information Technology or similar digital discipline.
  • Two to Four (2-4) or more years’ experience in the practical application of GIS, geospatial technologies, SQL development, database design and methods in the built environment on multi-disciplinary projects. Experience in rail projects is an asset.
  • Experience working with technologies such as ArcGIS Suite, ArcGIS Enterprise, mobile data capture tools (ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, etc), ETL and/or automation (FME, Python), Database management (SQL Server), Data visualization tools (PowerBI).
  • Strong time management skills and experience with coordinating the execution of personal assignments as well as coordination with peers as necessary to help ensure seamless and quality in delivery.
  • Strong communications skills, including ability to write and present with consideration of the interests and technical competency of a specific audience.
