JOB SUMMARY
As an important part of the Ministry of Defence, Defence Intelligence (DI) provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice that supports decision making across government. At the heart of DI is the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI).
NCGI– Analysis (NCGI-A) a joint service and civilian organisation who provide specialist Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), including imagery intelligence and geospatial analysis, to senior policy makers, military commanders, and deployed forces, providing a unique insight into global events not found anywhere else in Government.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Geospatial Analyst (GA) in this role will combine their understanding of the geospatial information environment with practitioner skills to create highly accurate image derived 3D datasets. Combined with a range of other geospatial data the team delivers visually impressive, intelligence rich, interactive ‘Scene Visualisation’ products in support of military operations and strategic assessments.
The post holder will work to meet customer requirements, within a specific time frame and to mandated standards. Products range from GEOINT visualisations to comprehensive GEOINT assessments and often include interactive outputs.
You will be a subject matter expert, able to guide, assist or direct other analysts in photogrammetric and geospatial analysis tasks. As team lead you will coordinate activity and collaborate with UK and international intelligence partners to maximise efficiency across the community.
Key Responsibilities are outlined below:
- Lead production, combing a variety of geospatial data sources to create accurate 3D models of locations of interest and analyse the results against various geospatial intelligence questions. Create products and services to the required standard, schedule and prioritise tasks to ensure key timeframes and targets are achieved.
- Provide line management, mentoring, and support to staff with their professional development. Delegate tasks to ensure skills are developed and maintained.
- Make use of the integrated intelligence environment and the variety of data sources available for exploitation within NCGI, DI and across UK and international partners. Liaise with customers and partners to identify geospatial solutions to intelligence requirements and ensure consistency of approach and delivery of outputs.
- Provide professional advice, direction, and mentoring on the use of various geospatial data types, geospatial analytic capabilities, and remote sensing.
- Manage geospatial data, tools, services, and products, in line with NCGI policy. Perform meticulous quality control checks. Be responsible for products and services and conduct releasing officer (RO) duties, as required.
This role has direct line management responsibilities for 2 members of staff.
