Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Now is an exciting time to join Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand and be part of the Sea Squad, ensuring Aotearoa New Zealand meets its international obligations to maritime navigation safety.
As part of the New Zealand Hydrographic Authority, the Sea Squad has oversight of the collection of hydrographic data, including bathymetry and sea level information. Most of the data is collected through the long-term national hydrographic survey programme, HYPLAN. The data collected is used to update official products such as nautical charts, keeping mariners safe when navigating around the New Zealand waters; protecting the environment; and supporting economic growth.

An exciting 3-year fixed term intermediate role in Location Information’s Sea Squad is now available. In this role you will contribute to the planning, prioritisation and managing the annual hydrographic survey programme, assessment and validation of survey data deliverables, and writing specifications for hydrographic surveys and for sea level information for use in nautical charts. Additionally, this role contributes to the assessment of Maritime Safety Information for Safety of Navigation purposes.
