Responsibilities:
The role is responsible for contributing to AIL’s culture by exhibiting collaboration, curiosity, resilience, leadership and accountability in a manner which supports AIL’s employee wellness, environmental sustainability, and profitability.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager with support from Technical Leads, the GeoStructural Designer, with knowledge of structural and geotechnical engineering, is primarily responsible for supporting the design of projects using geostructural products such as buried bridges, retaining walls/abutments and sound barrier walls.
- Support the design of low to medium risk innovative, cost-effective designs for buried bridge, bridge abutment, footing, retaining wall and soundwall products for the Canadian and International market.
- Support Research and Development projects.
- Resolve low risk project issues such as those arising during design, fabrication or construction.
- Identify opportunities to improve a project’s solution and lead the design improvement.
- Assist in the training of co-op students and new colleagues.
- Skillfully execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Support co-op students and designers.
