Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Geotechnical Lead, this position is a great opportunity to join a growing team of engineers and field technicians. This role is mainly office based but may require field work on an as needed basis.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Previous experience performing Geotechnical materials testing including compaction and concrete testing.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite. Experience in gINT, Slope W, Seattle 3D would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with reporting writing would be an asset.
  • TDG Class 7 training
  • Class 5 drivers license, or equivalent is a requirement for this position

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proposals, budgeting and scheduling of technical field staff;
  • Maintain equipment inventory and ensure calibrations are up to date.
  • Review, compile, and submit Daily Field Reports.
  • Prepare and update department standard practice procedures and reporting templates.
  • Successfully develop relationships with engineers, technologists, technicians, and construction personnel.
  • Perform Geotechnical Materials Testing including compaction testing using a nuclear gauge and concrete testing to CSA Standards.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to coordinate the preparation of Engineering Drawings and Reports.
  • Assist with technical analyses/calculations for slopes, shallow and deep foundations
  • Plan, conduct, and supervise geotechnical investigations.
  • Prepare borehole logs, field reports, and assist with the preparation of reports and recommendations, plans, and specifications.
