With a bright future ahead, we are seeking team members for our exciting Balranald operation where we will be deploying an innovative new mining technology. Using remotely operated, novel underground mining (UGM) systems to extract key critical minerals with minimal surface footprint.
About the location
Iluka’s Balranald operation is located just outside of Balranald township in regional south-western NSW.
You can choose to reside locally, drive-in drive-out from towns within the regional area, or fly-in fly-out from Melbourne.
For South Australian residents we will mobilise you via road transport from our Iluka office in Adelaide.
About the role
An opportunity exists for a geotechnical Engineer to join Iluka’s innovative new mineral sands operation in Balranald NSW. The role functions within the site based Technical Services Team and reports to the Technical Services Manager.
The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for the monitoring and management of the Balranald subsidence, tailings and backfill programs , directional drilling analysis and steering guidance to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities include managing the monitoring, design, budgeting, construction and operation of the backfill deposition infrastructure, subsidence and borehole monitoring, directional drilling analysis and steering assistance and completing all regulatory design and reporting requirements.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in similar Geotechnical roles
- Experience of Deswik, RS3 and GIS software
- Comprehensive understanding of technical processes and of ANCOLD guidelines and requirements
- Experience in contractor management and drilling of bores and installation of geotechnical monitoring
- Positive, energetic and proactive individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong commitment to safety, the environment, and duty of care
