Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are currently recruiting for a full-time, Engineer-in-Training registered or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC), for our geotechnical engineering group on Vancouver Island (Courtenay office preferred). The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and complete projects in a large range of industries including residential and commercial construction, land development, public and private utilities, mining, forestry and transportation. Project teams typically include a range of professionals, professionals in training, and technologists/technicians. Successful applicants will participate in the provision of engineering services from the proposal stage through planning, fieldwork, and commissioning of projects.
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Experienced in slope stability analysis, retaining wall designs, and geotechnical investigation (test pitting and drilling investigations) and design for land and resource development.
- Experience with geotechnical modelling software is considered an asset (preferably slope stability and/or pile assessment).
- A committed and positive attitude along with an obvious client focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of business.
- Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work with the ability to complete occasional extended field trips is considered an asset (generally 2-3 days at a time and occasionally up to 2 weeks).
- Strong technical writing abilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC as an engineer in training (geological or civil)
- Minimum 2 years of work experience
