Description:
FINDING BETTER WAYS TO PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THE WORLD NEEDS.
We are seeking a Manager, Agile Delivery who will be responsible for leading and coaching a team of Agile Professionals, ensuring the successful implementation of Agile framework across projects and product lines in the domains. You will play a crucial role in driving Agile best practices by collaborating with RT Agile Centre of Excellence (ACoE) team and domain coaches, facilitating continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance within the team.
You are also a promoter and ambassador of Agile ways of working. You will bring knowledge or deep expertise and develop this expertise and capability in your chapter members (Scrum Masters and Release Train Engineers). You take care for and nurture the growth of your team members to ensure they are inspired by a sense of purpose and are continually building their mastery and autonomy.
Finally, you will have accountability to provide a ‘home’ or regional leadership to the Organisation Change management.
The Manager, Agile Delivery holds a leadership role, with responsibility for guiding their team’s (Scrum Masters and Release Train Engineers) operational execution and professional growth, as well as ensuring their output aligns with strategic priorities and technical standards. These accountabilities are central to the role, each contributing significantly to the Chapter’s success, and supporting IS&T and Rio Tinto objectives.
Reporting to the Chief Advisor, PMO RTHQ Australia, some of the accountabilities of the role will include:
CHAPTER LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES – PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
- Develops and continuously improves the Agile practitioners (Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers) with a deliberate and structured pathway to support product lines, program and projects in the domain, leveraging the people capability model.
- Provides strategic execution and operational leadership: Executes the strategic vision communicated by the Chapter Group Lead or Chapter Area Lead by optimising team workflows and processes, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness to support the broader objectives of IS&T and Rio Tinto
- Professional growth and technical expertise: Advances the Chapter’s collective expertise by mentoring team members, fostering career growth, and ensuring alignment with organizational evolution, while also providing direct, hands-on technical guidance to uphold high standards of delivery
- Work Prioritisation and Alignment: Oversees the prioritisation of the Chapter’s backlog, aligning team tasks with IS&T and Chapter Group priorities and integrating stakeholder feedback to ensure that efforts contribute effectively to the goals of both IS&T and Rio Tinto
- Culture of Excellence and Continuous Improvement: Cultivates a culture of technical excellence within the Chapter, leading by example in knowledge sharing and innovation, and continuously refining processes in response to performance feedback to meet the dynamic needs of the organisation
- Recruitment and Team Development: Actively lead talent acquisition and manage career progression within the Chapter, inspiring a sense of purpose and autonomy among team members to build a robust, high-performing, and self-sufficient team
- Collaborative Influence: Acts as a key liaison between the Chapter team, other Chapters, and Domains supporting cross-functional initiatives and ensuring that the Chapter’s contributions are well-integrated within the larger context of IS&T and Rio Tinto products and projects
Responsibilities:
TO BE SUCCESSFULLY CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your colleagues;
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field;
- 10 - 15 years of experience in a similar role;
- Communication and collaboration skills, good at critical thinking and problem solving
- Excellent business acumen
- Demonstrated experience successfully implementing and coaching teams to adopt Agile ways of working.
- Expert and experienced Agile Project & Program delivery skills and competencies
- Certified in Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, SAFe etc)
- Experience operating in DevOps model and product centric approach
- Strong empathy for local and regional requirements
- Strong governance experience with global programs, particularly in regards to decision rights and authority levels in a matrix organisation
- Strength and curiosity in using data to drive improvements
- Able to dive into detail on Agile projects and Agile teams that require support and then step back
- Superior supplier partnership management, outcome based, skills
- Strong people leadership in career development and performance management
- Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.
