Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The GIS Analyst develops and manages the organization’s Geographic Information System (GIS), ensuring effective mapping and data analysis for decision-making and operational efficiency. This role supports digital workflows, AI-driven analytics, and staff training to optimize GIS usage and integration with advanced technologies.
EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related fields.
- 3-5 years of experience, preferably in utilities or IT-related roles.
- Proficiency with Esri products (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online) and programming (Python, SQL).
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and asset management is an asset.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the GIS Analyst’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- GIS Support: Collaborate with users to address GIS needs, resolve issues, and provide training.
- Process Improvement: Analyze and enhance GIS workflows, focusing on automation and AI integration.
- System Maintenance: Manage GIS databases, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal performance.
- Project Management: Assist in planning and implementing GIS initiatives, including digital transformation.
- Data Integration: Oversee the integration of GIS with other systems to enhance operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and operations teams to support planning, maintenance, construction, and regulatory compliance.
- Mapping and Analysis: Create accurate maps, perform spatial analysis, and support decision-making through data visualization.
