Description:
Overview:
Our general ledger accountant will provide a wide variety of accounting services to the business and be responsible for the postings in the general ledger of various entities. The general ledger accountant will report to the Financial Controller.
Responsibilities:
- Own Journal Entries: Take charge of preparing and posting journal entries for various accounting functions, including accruals, prepayments, customer rebates, depreciation, and adjustments, ensuring everything is accurately coded in the general ledger.
- Ensure Accuracy: Conduct thorough account analysis to ensure journal entries and balances are precise, reconciling discrepancies and maintaining consistency across accounts.
- Collaborate with Leadership: Partner with Business Unit Heads to support monthly cost reviews, proactively reporting on any fluctuations or variances against the budget.
- Coordinate with External Teams: Serve as the point of contact for external bookkeepers, providing them with the necessary AP, AR, and indirect tax information to keep operations smooth and compliant.
- Refine P&L Management: Review the Profit and Loss statements to identify items that need to be capitalized or prepaid, ensuring financial clarity.
- Manage Inventory Reconciliations: Take ownership of monthly inventory reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial records.
- Drive Global Financial Insights: Collaborate with internal teams to collect, analyze, and interpret key financial data, helping shape critical decision-making across departments.
- Support Year-End Processes: Assist the Financial Controller with year-end audit requests, statutory reporting, and other essential tasks to close the year with confidence.
- Enhance Financial Controls: Help streamline and standardize global financial controls, improving efficiency and accuracy across all entities.
- Government Reporting: Complete required periodic surveys from the Office for National Statistics or other government agencies.
- Update Processes & Documentation: Continuously improve and document business processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and transparency.
- Provide Support Across Teams: Be the go-to resource for internal teams, assisting with accounting inquiries and offering solutions to challenges.
- Be Flexible & Proactive: Tackle any ad-hoc tasks to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, demonstrating a “can-do” attitude in a fast-moving environment.
Qualifications:
- Part-qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of experience in general ledger accounting, preferably within a multinational environment.
- Exceptional Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex financial data clearly and able to work effectively with teams across different regions, both remotely and in person.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to quickly adjust to new processes, systems, and changes in a fast-paced environment is key, especially when managing multiple entities or handling shifting priorities.
- Team-Oriented: Thrive in a collaborative environment, motivating colleagues while being a trusted resource to the team.
- Remote Work Ready: Ability to work independently, manage your time effectively, prioritize tasks in a remote work setting and maintain accuracy under pressure.
