REIMAGINE WHAT’S POSSIBLE

We are excited to share our team is expanding to meet growing business needs across the world! We are looking for an experienced individual to fill the Global Emergency Response Lead role located in the United States (Allentown-PA, Baton Rouge-LA, or Houston-TX) or Europe (Hersham-UK or The Hague-Netherlands) This role will report to the Global EHS Systems Manager with the primary goal to ensure all aspects of emergency response and crisis management are developed, implemented, maintained, and managed appropriately throughout project execution locations, offices, operational facilities, and in transportation operations.
Air Products is undergoing significant growth investing in world scale, highly complex projects involving hazardous materials such as hydrogen, syngas and ammonia. These facilities are often in geographies that are relatively new for the company to operate in. As a result, the company is looking to make a step change in its capabilities in emergency response, as well as crisis management. This position will lead this change, working with the regional teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of significant experience in an industrial setting with at least 5 years in a petrochemicals or oil & gas managing or overseeing emergency response teams.
  • Degree in safety or emergency response/management or a combination of technical certifications/qualifications complimented with extensive prior experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Significant practical experienced working with front line emergency response and crisis management personnel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualifications in the Incident Command System (ICS). 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 (or equivalent).
  • Certified Fire Instructor.
  • Hazmat Technician and Incident Command level certifications.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of NFPA standards and requirements (NFPA 1081, 472, 25 and 101).
  • Demonstrated history as a leader in crisis management and emergency response in an industrial sector.
  • Prior experience working with and advising senior company executives at the regional and global level.
  • Experience with marine emergency response (such as LPG or Ammonia)
  • Knowledgeable of dangerous goods requirements
  • Experience with large projects (>1B USD).
  • Must be able to understand long-term implications of decisions.

WORK HOURS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, but at times weekends.
  • Work Model: Hybrid (office/wfh), flexible.
  • Typical Business Hours. Periodically working early AM & later PM hours as required to support global team.
  • On-call: no-rotation, but on-call for crisis events.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel (up to 50%), domestically (~1-week, typically M-F) and internationally (~2-weeks). Examples: TX, LA, CA, PA, Gulf Coast, Canada, Middle East, China, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Corporate Emergency Response processes, procedures, and training programs (both on and off-site).
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for emergency response service capabilities, requirements, and needs of major projects and operating facilities worldwide.
  • Owner for the emergency response service evaluation process as well as facilitate, as needed (specifically, new technologies and mega-projects).
  • Assist in the development of facility and project emergency response plans.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop regional Crisis Management plans.
  • Develop, coordinate, and participate in emergency response drills and exercises.
  • Build, maintain, and deliver emergency preparedness and crisis management training.
  • Assess emergency response training and implementation through site/project visits, conducting assessments, auditing, and conducting drills.
  • Evaluate and qualify private third-party emergency service providers.
  • Ensure all aspects of emergency response meet regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with industry associations to monitor best practices to consider adopting.
  • Work with Confined Space Center of Excellence.
  • Must be able to work autonomously.
  • Lead global centers for emergency response and crisis management.
  • Assist with development of credible scenarios and pre-incident response plans.
