The A Side: A Day in The Life
The role is a post-qualified position within the Global Finance team reporting to the Global FP&A Director. The Global Finance FP&A team is responsible for: the analysis of the global operating company results, review and analysis of the financial performance of the operating companies and communicating the results and analysis to management through key reports and presentations. The team also closely supports the UMG CFO, Group Controller and UMG Board, and provides assistance to the Heads of Finance in the operating companies.
The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be Financial

  • As part of the Global FP&A team, this role will be involved in the review and analysis of the financial performance of the operating companies, as well as the preparation of key monthly financial reports
  • Responsibility for the review and analysis of a group of territories and point of reference for Global Finance Team in all financial operating matters relating to them
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports produced by the FP&A team including those on specific revenue, income statement and cashflow segments
  • Detailed variance investigations upon the monthly actual and forecast results compared to budget upon not only income statement but also cashflow on both a group, divisional and operating company level
  • Ensuring adherence to UMG accounting policies and relevant IAS requirements and disclosures

Be Collaborative

  • Provide additional off-cycle support to Global Finance EVP, SVP and FP&A Director
  • The Global Finance team closely supports the Group CFO and UMG Board, and the role will be involved in the preparation of Board presentations, supporting analyses and other adhoc reviews

Necessary

  • Excellent analytical skills and experience building excel spreadsheets up to macro level
  • Team player with strong work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to develop strong relationships with colleagues from the different territories within Universal Music
  • Detail oriented, but ability to see the big picture
  • Flexible with ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Ability to manage own workload in a pressurised environment and work to tight deadlines
  • Aptitude in adding value to tasks, developing projects and making procedures more efficient
  • Interest in music with an enthusiasm to work within the industry

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Hyperion products would be helpful
