Responsibilities:

A ROLE YOU WILL LOVE

As the Head of Global Database and ETL Engineering you will be required to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and employees, and maintain those relationships. Communicating effectively is imperative within this role, as you will be speaking with a variety of technical and non-technical audiences daily, to share knowledge and complex ideas; provide updates; influence; challenge; and take on their feedback.
Other key responsibilities:
· People management: You will have the ability to create a high performing team, by coaching, motivating, and supporting the people you lead. You will hold quality monthly 1:1s, create succession plans, monitor performance, along with supporting the learning and development of your employees. You will be there to give advice, mentor and pass on knowledge.
· Financial Planning, tracking and reporting
· Working at all levels of the organisation and with vendors/implementation partners.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

We are looking for a committed, proactive, and driven Head of Global Database and ETL Engineering who possesses extensive knowledge of both on-premises and public cloud database technologies, with a particular focus on MSSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database systems engineering and proven experience implementing robust observability solutions for complex database environments, including performance monitoring, automated alerting, and detailed telemetry for system health and reliability.
The role requires comprehensive engineering skills within these database systems, along with extensive experience in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deploying and managing database infrastructure in cloud and on-premise environments. You should have a strong track record of implementing observability best practices, including metrics collection, log aggregation, and distributed tracing to ensure optimal database performance, troubleshooting, and capacity planning across global deployments.
Some other key skills you’ll have:
· Experience in Automation, Cloud Architecture (Public & Private) and Application development
· Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align various interests and requirements.
· Excellent analytical and research skills with the ability to collect and analyse complex material and data, to present it in accessible formats.
· Experience working at all levels of the organisation and with vendors / implementation partners.
· Has a strong work ethic and is able to deal with conflicting priorities.
· Self-motivated and can use own initiative to recommend innovative solutions.
