Role: Global HR Project Manager, 12-18 month fixed term contract.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Project management ability to plan and deliver programmes/initiatives in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner
  • Previous experience in a global law firm, professional services firm or consultancy is beneficial
  • Human Resources experience and an understanding of how HR practice drives business success
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

At Mayer Brown, the Global HR Project team contributes to the ambition of a one-firm culture by leading projects and coordinating teams to achieve pre-defined objectives within a specified timeframe, be that locally, across regions or with global applicability.
Joining a highly collaborative and welcoming team during a period of parental leave, the incumbent will support the delivery of inflight projects, ad hoc initiatives and smaller tasks as required, often simultaneously.
Drawing on previous project and HR experience, the incumbent will be expected to define clear project goals and manage project planning and execution to ensure successful project completion.
Working in a fast-paced environment and being highly responsive in order to meet tight deadlines, the ideal candidate will be pro-active and solutions-orientated, comfortable with ambiguity and prepared to overcome obstacles as they may arise to ensure successful project delivery.
With a global and local remit, the incumbent will liaise directly with senior members of HR including the CHRO, regional heads and Directors of Centres of Excellence, alongside their teams at all levels of seniority. Engagement with other areas of the business and external vendors can also be expected.
Familiarity with, and ideally experience in, full project lifecycle management is necessary for this role. Experience with providing information to senior management that requires effective writing and data presentation skills in narrative or statistical reports is advantageous.
Hours: Our current working from home policy allows for two days working from home, with required in-office days (London based) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Standard hours are 09:30 to 17:30.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Global HR Project Team with existing in-flight initiatives
  • Lead project activities to achieve objectives in line with Firm strategy
  • Plan and deliver end-to-end and/or in-flight projects through to implementation
  • Create project plans that outline the scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budget, and timing of projects
  • Assign tasks, set deadlines, and provide guidance and support to project team members to ensure that they have the necessary resources and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
  • Arrange regular project team meetings to ensure progress against the project plan and successful delivery of the project
  • Document project work and progress against milestones to track successes, mitigate risks and escalate priorities and concerns as required
  • Supervise reporting mechanisms by ensuring that contributors provide relevant updates on time, capturing business insight from subject matter experts and distilling data insights for CHRO use
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and external contributors to ensure initiatives and solutions have their full support ahead of roll out
  • Manage the change and communication related to the project to facilitate understanding, acceptance and adoption
  • Influence stakeholders and teams to improve business performance and facilitate change initiatives to produce more effective and efficient processes
  • Manage engagement activities with the global HR teams to support efforts to maintain a one-firm culture
  • Perform comprehensive market research to guarantee that our Firm’s policies and practices remain at the forefront of the industry.
  • Influence and support change management across the Firm and champion change to help drive projects forward
  • Ad hoc assistance to the CHRO and wider HR team as and when required
