Description:
Global Kids (GK) educates, inspires, and mobilizes youth to succeed in school, achieve postsecondary success, and act on critical issues facing their communities and the world. Over its 35-year history, the organization has engaged thousands of young people in its innovative youth development programs that promote global awareness and action; building their agency to affect change in their community and beyond.
Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development and Communications Coordinator will be a key member of Global Kids’ (GK) Development team, whose primary responsibility is to enable GK to effectively steward relationships and fulfill commitments to individual donors, institutional funders, alumni and volunteers via written communication, social media, website and print. The position’s primary focus will center on core fundraising operations for the organization, which will include supporting the management of the donor database, donor correspondence and assistance, compliance, along with prospect/grant research. The coordinator will also support the Vice President of Development and the Individual Engagement Manager’s work with the GK volunteer leadership (alumni and young professionals council and various advisory boards). This will include scheduling committee meetings as well as coordinating communications with other stakeholders where appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (i.e.: social sciences, marketing, communications etc.) with at least three years working experience in a program or administrative functions
- A minimum of one year working in fundraising or not-for-profit administrative function
- Familiarity and demonstrated interest in youth development and/or education programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to adapt content to different audiences while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office; comfort with using Microsoft Excel and data management software
- Skilled at relationship-building and comfortable engaging with various stakeholders and media outlets
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, and X), website CMS, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Advanced research skills; familiarity with various internet research tools
- Strong analytical skills; familiarity with data tracking and performance management
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and deliver high quality product
- At least two years in fundraising and communications management preferred
Responsibilities:
Website and Social Media Management
- Develop and implement social media campaigns to meet the communications and marketing needs for donor and alumni engagement and positioning Global Kids as a leader in its field
- Monitor social media (comments, direct messaging), collect and report on analytics, and maintain social, editorial, and key-messaging calendars to spot trends and keep ahead of issues
- Assist in updating and maintaining the organization’s website, optimize content, and ensure a positive user experience
- Capture photography and videography, edit and customize for social media, the website, and in-house materials
- Using an email marketing tool (currently MailChimp), create and schedule emails to support fundraising efforts, organization awareness, and event attendance
Donor Management & Stewardship
- Support with managing donor database.
- Regular input of donations
- Prepare reports for the Executive Director and VP of Development
- Draft and disseminate donor correspondence within a timely manner
- Research and prepare reports on individual donor prospects
- Maintain electronic and hard copy file systems
- Support reconciliation of all donor receivables
Cultivation & Fundraising Event Planning Support & Execution
- Logistical planning for organization meetings (invitations, catering, material preparation, etc.)
- Work with Senior Leadership Team to confirm objectives for meetings to ensure that the meeting objectives are realistic, that preparation is appropriate (including creating briefing materials), and that participants are well-prepared
- Where appropriate, attend meetings, take notes, and conduct necessary follow-up
- Disseminate and track event invitations, tickets, etc.
- Assist with coordinating event volunteers
Grant Development & Management
- Support preparation of grants for submission
- Using grants management database, track submissions, awards, and reporting
- With Program and Development staff, assist in preparing grant reports.
- Data collection and analysis
