OVERVIEW

The Associate Chief Academic Officer (Associate CAO) is responsible for fostering medical staff relationships, oversight of administrative and academic structure, the clinical learning environment, compliance and other regulatory requirements for Graduate Medical Education (GME), at their designated participating clinical sites and programs. Final oversight performed by the Chief Academic Officer/Designated Institutional Official of the Sponsoring Institution.
Requirements: Board Certification and Florida License. Program Director experience.

HOSPITAL DESCRIPTION

Located in the city’s uptown district, AdventHealth Tampa is a 626-bed tertiary hospital serving Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and the surrounding counties. The hospital is a known leader in implementing minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures and in 2021 opened the Taneja Center for Surgery, a new six-story, state-of-the-art surgical and patient tower. It’s also home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading-edge research for over 30 years. Other specialty services include 24-hour emergency care for adults and pediatrics, cardiovascular medicine, digestive health, neuroscience, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, and sleep medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, academic and administrative oversight guidance to GME Program Directors and Faculty.
  • Develop and advocate for a culture of learning based on the mission of AdventHealth (GME).
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all GME Department and Human Resources policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Review and obtain site approval of annual operating and capital budgets for all assigned programs.
  • Ensure that protected time is assigned to all program directors and faculty, as appropriate, to effectively carry out educational, administrative, and leadership responsibilities of GME.
  • Cooperate promptly with the sponsoring institution and accreditation bodies for information, documentation, site visits, etc. Acts as the DIO designee for any official ACGME business as appropriate and assigned.
  • Meet with Program Directors and Associate Program Directors regarding assigned program, site, or trainee issues and faculty concerns as they relate to academic operations and impact on the learning and working environment. Report information as necessary to the CAO/DIO and GMEC.
