We are actively searching for a seasoned and outcome-oriented Business Development Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our business development initiatives, covering sales, marketing, and outreach strategies. Our organization proudly operates as a Service-Disabled Veteran Small Business within the Government Contractor Realm. We seek a dynamic Business Development Manager capable of making an immediate impact. The ideal candidate will possess substantial sales experience and demonstrate exceptional leadership and motivational skills to drive a high-performing team toward unparalleled success.

JOB SUMMARY FOR THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER:

The Business Development Manager will conduct market assessments and manage business development activities to support growth within the government National Security market and Cyber Security market. The Business Development Manager will also be responsible for identifying and qualifying new business development opportunities and leading/assisting in the capture management and proposal development processes. These efforts will include leading the Business Development team with the identification, qualification, and determination for bids on upcoming business development opportunities both inside and outside of the managers assigned business areas. The Business Development Manager will also support executive leadership in staying aware of and preparing new business development opportunities, including upcoming business development targets, market outreach events, contract industry day events and other important outreach events.

  • Responsible for maintaining the “pipeline” for new business and recapture efforts of existing contracts, ensuring accuracy of the data for all opportunities assigned under this position.
  • Responsible for maintaining the “pipeline” for accuracy of the data for opportunities under multiple business lines, as needed.
  • New business pursuits should be focused on, stated objectives of the strategic plan from the business being supported.
  • Participate in the development of annual and long-range strategic business plans.
  • Drive requirements for marketing and trade show strategies and attend trade shows and networking events. Manage trade show efforts and keep trade show booths and materials current.
  • Meet and maintain close relationships with new and current customers.
  • Contact prospective customers using networking, referrals from current customers, POC listings from advance RFP postings, and professional organization meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Manage the opportunity pipeline process with probability of win calculations, revenue projections, and direct input to the company budget and forecasting process.
  • Perform initial analysis of proposed or actual request of capabilities, and RFPs to determine technical, schedule, and content reasonableness, and profitability.
  • Determine teaming requirements for Prime efforts; identify and qualify industry partners and identify teaming opportunities for subcontracting opportunities.
  • Provide proposal development support, as needed, to meet growth objectives.
  • Spearhead the company’s business development proposals as a subject matter authority.
  • Lend subject matter expertise to the organization’s business development proposal initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other assembled members of the company to design, develop, and publish proposal documents
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and managing a Business Development (BD) team
  • consisting of at least two members.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER:

  • Proven track record of success in Business Development in government security contracting environment
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years leading a GovCon proposal or capture team.
  • Must have a minimum 5 years of GovCon business development experience
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in technical writing
  • Proven ability to develop business at executive and mid-levels.
  • Knowledge of decision makers, strategic direction, and major programs in the subject market space.
  • Ability to up-sell and expand services from existing contracts.
  • Successful track record developing business in new markets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of developing and delivering effective sales presentations.
  • Excellent proposal development skills.
  • Demonstrated success targeting and winning services contracts.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies leveraging partnerships with vendors and other industry partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills with appropriate transparency.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task in a team environment.
  • Collaborative leader with ability to pull together cross functional support for BD initiative

EDUCATION

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and experience.
