The opportunity
This excellent opportunity has become available for parental leave cover. This role is ideal for anyone who is keen on working in an evolving and dynamic business and is keen to further their skills and knowledge in respect of governance, regulation and compliance.
Your new role:
Working alongside the Head of Risk, Governance and Regulation, you will be a highly skilled, motivated and detail-oriented Governance and Compliance Specialist working closely with all divisions of the Elders insurance business. In your role you will add value to the Elders Network by ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, assist in embedding and ensuring adherence to QBE’s Risk and Compliance Frameworks, develop, embed and monitor compliance with applicable policies, standards and operating procedures, and ensure all laws, regulations and codes applicable to general insurance and related business areas are complied with by Elders Agents and its Authorised Representatives.
Other responsibilities include:
- Facilitate and manage the Sale of Service Rights by Elders Agents in accordance with the Sale of Service Rights Manual
- Minute taking and preparation of reporting for Elders ERCC and other Governance Committees
- Preparation of the Annual Disclosure Document under the Franchising Code of Conduct
- Support Elders Agents and Authorised Representatives and assist QBE with investigation into incidents, analysis of issues, controls and determining appropriate business improvements to address breaches and issues.
- Support QBE Technical Compliance and AUSPAC Business Risk Team with the development and ongoing maintenance of an obligations register for Elders Insurance including identification of controls and applicable owners.
- Provide compliance, governance and regulatory support to any Elders business projects or initiatives
- Adhoc training and development of material, processes and procedures to ensure Elders Agents and Authorised Representatives are compliant with their obligations under the General Insurance Licence Agreement, applicable laws, regulations and codes of conduct.
About you:
You will have proven experience for ensuring operations and procedures comply with legal regulations and internal policies. Experience in working closely with various internal and external stakeholders to oversee governance and compliance are in place, successful deliver of improvement initiatives, manage risks, and promote a culture of integrity and accountability.
You will have:
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of legal and regulatory requirements, governance and compliance standards and ability to interpret relevant regulatory legislation
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of the operations of a general insurance company
