Sciensano is a recently founded scientific organization of the Federal government, targeting public health in Belgium. Sciensano conducts scientific research on all aspects of health to support policy.
Within Sciensano, the Cancer Centre plays an important role in supporting the Federal government in the cancer policies conducted in Belgium. Key activities of the Cancer Centre are currently on implementation of the HPV test in cervical cancer screening, population-genomics and cancer, organization of complex genetic profiling testing in oncology, return to work and survivorship, onco-psychology, palliative care and patient/citizen engagement. The Cancer Centre not only focuses on national activities but is also engaged in several international collaborations in all these initiatives.

To address governance issues to the broad range of opportunities that are and will emerge in the coming years at the occasion of the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the Mission on Cancer, Digital Europe and the European Health Data Space program, the Cancer Centre wants to engage a Governance Policy Support Scientist acquainted with the challenges and opportunities on primary and/or secondary use of healthdata including genomics information.

• You will further develop the genomics/genetics public engagement initiatves in all domains of cancer relevant to the core tasks of the Cancer Centre but especially with the developments within the 1+ Million Genomes initiative of the European Commission.
• You will assist the Public Health Genomics team on the legal aspects of establishing the European Data Infrastructure for genomics of the European Commission (EC).
• You will activily engage in discussion on the governance aspects of national and international collaborations of the Cancer Centre on genomics/genetics with a particular attention to the EBCP, the Mission on Cancer, the European Health dataspace, the EC 1+Million Genomes project.
