Join Our Supply team at Diageo’s new brewery in Kildare.
Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer categories. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Buchanan’s and Windsor whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.
Diageo’s new €200 million state-of-the-art carbon neutral brewery in Newbridge, Co. Kildare will brew lagers and ales including Rockshore, Harp, Smithwick’s, Kilkenny and Carlsberg. With a capacity of 2 million hectolitres, it will be the second largest brewing operation in Ireland after St. James’s Gate and support the future growth of Diageo Ireland’s beer brands.
The state-of-the-art brewery will be powered with 100% renewable energy and will harness the latest process technology to minimise overall energy and water consumption. The target date for the brewery to begin production is 2026 and it will facilitate the growth of overall beer exports from Ireland. It will also facilitate enhanced capacity for the production of the fast-growing Guinness 0.0 at the traditional home of Guinness at St James’s Gate in Dublin.
About the Role
As the Governance Support Lead you will play a pivitol role in ensuring the development and implementation of key governance standards across the site in preparation for plant startup. Reporting directly to the QEHS (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety) Manager, you will be responsible for developing licensing, certification, and audit preparations to meet compliance requirements.
Your work will focus on embedding standard methodologies for internal and external compliance across health, safety, quality, and environmental systems. This role will see you collaborating closely with various project and operations teams, as well as the Governance team at St James Gate
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the rollout of safety procedures, such as the Safe System of Work Permit System (SSWP), and assist in developing key governance protocols like the Business Continuity Plan and Crisis Management Plan. You will drive a safety-first culture, working to mitigate risks during the installation and commissioning of plant equipment and responding to safety concerns promptly.
Additionally, you will prepare the site for licensing and certification audits, including ISO and FSSC standards, and develop systems for safety and environmental audits.
Other responsibilities include establishing site-wide reporting tools for compliance, supporting the rollout of HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP protocols, and ensuring the calibration and maintenance of effluent and water sampling equipment.
About You
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant technical qualification, with experience in operations environments, particularly with knowledge of environmental legislation, health and safety regulations, and governance systems.
Familiarity with ISO standards and audit processes is crucial, as is a proven commercial understanding of production and supply chain management.
NEBOSH or IOSH certification is desirable, and experience in health and safety will be a distinct advantage.
You should possess strong leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a calm and effective approach in fast paced environment.
