Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

DroneShield is seeking a Government Affairs Director to join its team, based in Canberra (preferably) or Sydney.
The position will report the CEO. It represents an exceptional opportunity for a result-driven individual in a new niche but exploding global market for counterdrone security.
The role will form an integral part of a small global team headquartered in Sydney, with the primary focus on highlighting DroneShield capabilities to all levels of Australian Government, supported by external consultancies as appropriate, including a media advisor.
As a role with a scale-up business in a nascent industry, while the position involves a substantial amount of planning and strategy work along with execution, the best candidate will be both a thinker and a doer - the job will involve a substantial amount of DroneShield positioning within federal and state agencies, and the interplay between the Government agencies and DroneShield customers, such as Defence, intelligence community, law enforcement, critical infrastructure, public venue security, transport and others. There will also be elements of non-Australian work emerging over time, including AUKUS related work. Further, there would likely be lobbying work related to various parts of legislation which affect DroneShield.
Competitive compensation package will be offered for the role, including competitive base salary, discretionary cash bonus, and stock options.

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Grow and execute Government Relations strategy for Australia and AUKUS across Defence, intelligence community, law enforcement, critical infrastructure, public venue security, transport and others
  • Interface with external Government Relations and media consultants to drive the GR strategy
  • Promote awareness of DroneShield capabilities at all levels of Australian Government
  • Engage with Australian and other Government for military aid programs
  • Represent DroneShield at industry events
