Job Description
The Government Affairs Manager is responsible for leading the Affiliate’s interaction with government entities, regulatory bodies, and policymakers. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to influence public policy in alignment with AbbVie’s strategic objectives and those of our stakeholders, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and maintaining strong relationships with key governmental stakeholders.
NOTE: This is a part-time, 2 days per week opportunity on a 12 month contract.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and political environments.
  • Proven experience in issues management.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Medicines Australia Code and New Zealand Medicines Code.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives and enhances its influence in policy-making processes.
  • Monitor and analyse legislative and regulatory developments and advocate for policy changes that benefit the organisation and its stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and advice to internal teams on regulatory matters.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant external meetings, public forums, and industry events to promote AbbVie and the company’s positions on given topics.
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing government relations during issues, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing government affairs team, fostering a culture of proactive engagement and strategic thinking.
  • Management of local corporate website and associated updates
  • Overseeing of corporate grants, donations and philanthropy programs
  • Management of local corporate brand guidelines and associated enquiries
