Description:

General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
Under general supervision, within a Finance department, this position is responsible for researching and providing data to support financial analyses and other projects. Financial data may include data from company budgeting, cost and labor systems, general ledger, and other related financial systems. Interprets established policies, procedures, and standard practices, and provides analysis and develops reports of financial data to ensure that financial analysis projects and cost control activities are successfully implemented and maintained. Shares information and findings to resolve financial issues impacting operations.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and/or finance, and at least six years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or similar fields, preferably at a government contractor. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a general understanding of cost accounting principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Must have ability to research regulatory compliance matters, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Must have the ability to identify issues and generate financial analyses of those issues
  • Ability to develop solutions for a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings.
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Requires effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential, as is the ability to work extended hours as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, monitor and analyze large volumes of data (company budgeting, cost and labor systems, general ledger, and other related financial systems) while maintaining an alertness for anomalies and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to moderately complex inquiries from employees and managers regarding a variety of financial data, which may contain confidential and sensitive information requiring tact and discretion in handling.
  • Prepare responses to inquiries from internal and external sources by interpreting Company policy, applicable Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
  • Act as a point of contact with outside organizations, including the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
  • Participate in reviews of internal controls and related DFARS Business Systems to promote compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate across functions and project teams to assess potential project issues and assist in developing solutions to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and provide status and progress reports for project schedules, timelines, and milestones from initiation to delivery.
  • Work closely with program managers, profit center managers, and cost center managers to provide financial support, data, and reports.
