One of the best, and most fun, jobs in the Alaska legislature is opening up: UA Government Relations Manager. Very competitive pay/benefits/retirement/continuing education opportunities to help raise a voice for higher education in Alaska.
As our UA Government Relations Manager you will live an exciting, fulfilling life in Juneau during the legislative session! Be a part of history as the University continues to be a crucial part of Alaska’s fabric. The position will be overseen by the State Relations Director, but you’ll be given substantial leadership opportunities to work with the legislature and the executive branch.
The position works with Republicans/Democrats/Independents/Undeclared…We’re all friends here! You are a liaison of information on higher education. Information needed by policy makers to craft decisions. Strong writing, public speaking ability, and diplomatic skills are a must. A preferred candidate will live in Anchorage during the interim and participate in activities, representing the university, as they arise.
The University of Alaska can offer a very competitive salary/retirement/benefit package.
To thrive in this role you’ll need to understand the legislative process and higher education. At least 2 years of legislative experience is highly recommended.
This position requires the person to testify in committee, prepare legislative material, speak in front of groups of students/alumni/staff/faculty, and help write weekly capital reports for thousands of our UA family across the state.
Do you like going to functions and learning new things? Great! This is not a 9-5 position. Many times you’ll be attending events that may not be during the normal working day. You’re in the “people business” and you’ll need to be out there with the people.
Opportunities to travel to campuses around the state as needed.
If you are selected for this position, we will put you on a path toward career advancement.
