Our Fiscal Reporting team is currently looking for a Government Reporting Accountant to join the team full time on a permanent basis.
As a Government Reporting Accountant at the Treasury you’ll be part of a dynamic, highly skilled team that is responsible for providing financial accounting direction to the public sector. We are committed to keeping New Zealand’s reputation as being a world leader in government fiscal reporting.
In this role, you will be closely involved in preparing the financial statements and forecasts of the Government as well as providing accounting advice on a range of issues.
This important work takes a special kind of person with a passion for making a difference and getting things done. We are committed to employing people, with a wide range of academic, cultural and social backgrounds and experiences, who represent the New Zealand community we serve. The specific experience, skills, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:
- A Chartered Accountant qualification with at least two years (post qualification) of financial accounting or auditing experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent the Treasury
- A focus on continuous improvement and personal accountability
- Self-starter with initiative who can think independently and drive outcomes
- Exceptional relationship management skills and credibility to engage with and influence at all levels
- Experience at consolidation accounting; Public sector experience would be helpful but is not essentia
