JOB SUMMARY
The Child and Family Agency was established on 1st January 2014 and is responsible for a range of statutory functions including provision of child protection, alternative care, specified regulatory services and a range of family support services.
The Agency has commenced a major improvement programme with significant focus on Practice, Culture and Structure.
The Agency currently has responsibility for a budget in excess of €800m and delivers its services through circa 6,000 people in 400 locations across the Country.
The Child and Family Agency has responsibility for the following range of services:
- Child Protection and Welfare
- Family Support
- Alternative Care
- Adoption
- Tusla Education Support Services (TESS)
- Children’s Service Regulation
- Counselling and Therapeutic Supports

EDUCATION & TRAINING
- Maintain standards of practice and levels of professional knowledge by participating in continuous professional development initiatives and attendance at courses as appropriate.
- Engage in career and professional development planning.
- Oversee the provision of a framework for the promotion of staff development and training by making recommendations with regard to the ongoing education, mentoring, training and in-service needs of the inspection and monitoring team.
- Pursue continuous professional development in order to develop professional knowledge and keep updated with current and relevant HR legislation.
- Provide training with the team and region to share knowledge of relevant HR Procedures/ Processes.
Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Architecting and developing .NET Core and Angular features and solutions.
- Hands-on in .NET web application development.
- Hands-on in Azure Devops configuration and management.
- Mentoring and managing code reviews with the development team.
- Develop coding standards and procedures in line with SDLC best practice.
- Lead on the implementation of security standards.
- Keeping abreast of latest developments in software development to ensure the team are maximising the latest innovation and best practice.
- Support the ICT Applications Manager in embedding a culture of continuous improvement in the Applications Development Team by driving improvements to work processes, tools and techniques.
- Strong problem-solving abilities – the ability to analyse a technical problem and select the most appropriate solutions.
- Develop detailed understanding of all systems becoming the key expert in the ICT team to support knowledge transfer to development, testing and support teams.
