GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to Regional Tendering Lead, the Applications Engineer role is both sales and customer facing, the performance directly influences the Company’s external relationships, hence the key to winning order opportunities. The purpose is to produce accurate and competitive tenders in accordance with our customers’ requirements and our internal policies and procedures to facilitate achievement of order input and margin targets. To produce competitive on-time tenders that are technically & commercially accurate as well as support regional sales on technical and commercial issues ensuring the optimum technical and commercial solutions are available for the needs of the customer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in English language – both written and verbal
  • Excellent communicator to bring common purpose to tasks and strategies
  • Competence in Microsoft Office packages – Excel, Word, PowerPoint are prerequisites
  • Organized, be able to manage multiple tasks professionally
  • Good time manager, sets and meets deadlines and objectives
  • Strives to meet all commitments and has a proven track record of meeting deadlines while maintaining high performance standards

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field, or commensurate experience in a Commercial/Tendering organization required
  • Experience of the market sector
  • Experience of the centrifugal pump industry
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in reviewing highly detailed specifications and writing comprehensive and accurate bids
  • Able to Travel (Domestic and International)

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Provides tendering support to regional tendering and sales teams for win order strategies across the product lines to ensure all activities occur on time and with high quality from proposal receipt to handover
  • Develop and submit detailed proposals ensuring they are delivered in a high quality, timely fashion in support of the ITO (Inquiry to Order) Tendering Policy & Procedure
  • Review and evaluate detailed technical specifications for packaged equipment, extract applicable client requirements and translate/communicate specifications to subcontractors, sub-vendors and internal organization
  • Obtain quotations for relevant bought-in equipment in accordance with latest Global Supply Chain requirements
  • Liaise with the commercial team on customer needs, scope, and timing
  • Ensures accuracy and completion of both e-Sales tender data and the Tendering front log and they are actively managed
  • Work as a member of the Global Tendering Team to ensure KPI’s and Metrics are achieved
  • An element of travel may be required to support customer visits during bid clarification/negotiation stages
  • Support the coaching and development of Applications Engineers through feedback, instruction and guidance to help them develop skills and excel in their job responsibilities
