About the role
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about new technologies and want to put them at the service of candidates. The person must be able to learn new tools and apply their knowledge to the development of solutions for our customers, and this in a proactive manner.

Your contribution

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or software Engineering completed in 2023, 2024 or early in 2025
• Less than two years of industry relevant (local and international) experience.
• Willingness to learn and to make an impact
• Excellent coding skills and experience using Python (including NumPy, SciPy, pandas)
• Comfortable writing SQL queries.
• Knowledge of Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec

Where you will be working
The Data & Analytics team is focused on improving performance through smarter ways of working by driving an innovative and “disruptive” technology culture. By partnering with Rio Tinto product groups and functions, our team is developing innovative ideas to solve problems and enable better decisions through data analytics.
Data science roles have diverse, multi-industry backgrounds and comprehensive skills in the fields of data modelling, engineering, and visualization as well as advanced analytics techniques including machine learning and optimization. These skills are used to turn data into information that can be used to make improved decisions and generate competitive advantage for Rio Tinto.
