ABOUT THE ROLE
At Unipart, we’re on the hunt for exceptional data scientists who will be responsible for shaping data science and data mining strategy within the business to drive the strategic value of data for our existing and new customers.
We are seeking ever-curious, enthusiastic graduates - those with analytical minds who are never happier than when they’re solving problems.
AS PART OF YOUR ROLE AS A GRADUATE DATA SCIENTIST YOU WILL:
- Extract, data mine and define meaning from raw data and manage key data signatures providing crucial analysis and reporting, the outcome of which should have significant benefits to the bottom line.
- Work with large datasets to analyse and interrogate data and develop new models to support strategic objectives.
- Work for a variety of customers, identifying opportunities to improve current systems, processes and infrastructure - proposing changes, testing and roll out.
- Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to contribute to the “bigger picture” strategy and performance of the business.
- Scope out new data science projects with stakeholders.
- Proactively make suggestions on how Data Science can help the business.
- Work effectively in cross functional teams, specifically with the Software Development Team, on key business wide analytical projects.
TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
- A highly numerate degree in a relevant Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or similarly quantitative field (2:2 or above)
- Experience in statistical modelling, machine learning, data mining / feature selection, unstructured data analytics, natural language processing.
- Proficiency in statistical and other tools/direct coding languages, e.g. Python / C.
- Familiarity with relational databases, statistical techniques and intermediate level knowledge of SQL.
- Advanced excel skills and familiarity of agile methodologies
- Advanced analytical techniques e.g. regression analysis, predictive analysis, data mining
- Understanding of machine-learning / predictive modelling
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills dealing with stakeholders at all levels within the organisation
- High self-motivation and ability to work autonomously
