THE COMPANY:
Vent Engineering are a specialist in natural and smoke ventilation systems and have been designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning ventilation systems since 1988.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recent graduate (BEng / BSc) with a background in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or engineering.
- Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD (2D) software.
- Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office software.
- Methodical worker with a high attention to detail.
- Flexible with good communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and manage own workload.
- Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and electrical block schematics.
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge clearly.
- Technical writing skills.
Responsibilities:
THE JOB ROLE:
Are you a recent graduate looking to kick-start your career in design engineering? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our specialist and busy Design Office in Waterlooville. As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will work closely with our Senior Technical Manager, gaining hands-on experience in producing and updating drawings for some of the UK’s largest construction projects. Our focus is on smoke ventilation as a specialist sub-contractor.
We are seeking someone who is organised, methodical, with excellent communication skills, and a high attention to detail. This role is suited for a recent graduate with an interest in construction, civil engineering, architecture, or engineering, seeking advancement within a busy, knowledgeable, technical team.
You will be provided with full industry training, and the opportunity for future progression within the design team as the company continues to grow.
Location: Vent Engineering, Hussar Court, Waterlooville
Hours: 40 hours per-week, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm (30 minute unpaid lunch break)
Salary: £28,000 per annum
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Design Office team to comprehend design requirements and project specifications.
- Utilise CAD software to generate precise technical drawings, electrical block schematics, and layout plans based on project specifications.
- Ensure that all drawings are accurate, detailed, and align with industry standards.
- Keep detailed and accurate records in accordance with Design Office procedures.
- Maintain an organised documentation system for easy retrieval and reference.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop comprehensive working drawings that can be used for project tender and quotation purposes.
- Create detailed installation drawings to guide field personnel during project implementation.
- Ensure that all drawings adhere to project timelines and deadlines.
- Prior use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software (Desirable).
