    The Role
    We’re seeking to engage an enthusiastic Graduate Engineer to join our Power & Energy Team. This role can be based in either Sydney / Brisbane / Melbourne and in this role, you’ll be responsible for undertaking Engineering tasks of limited scope and complexity under supervision and the provision of engineering services in areas that may include:- engineering design, detailing, documentation, proposal preparation, field investigation, data collation, analysis and reporting.
    You’ll also develop skills in project management, co-ordination, communication with contractors, suppliers and other industry personnel, expediting, scheduling, cost control and marketing SMEC’s services to clients.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaising with project managers and appropriate stakeholders to ascertain information required to undertake design and documentation tasks
  • Contributing to the delivery of projects within time and budget under supervision
  • Working on minor phases of broader assignments under supervision
  • Carrying out detailed design and documentation under supervision
  • Using a variety of standard engineering and scientific methods and techniques in solving problems under supervision
  • Seeking assistance to review own task outputs against requirements and undertaking corrections and improvements identified.
  • Assisting Senior Engineers with the analysis of information, production of designs and computations under close supervision
  • Assisting in the preparation of specifications, proposals and other documentation under close supervision
  • Undertaking tasks in line with BMS policies and procedures and in a timely manner under close supervision
  • Undertaking work with awareness of behaviours that demonstrate professional ethics
  • Communicating with others and building professional networks
  • Seeking to understand the financial aspects of the business to develop commercial acumen
  • Applying relevant legislation, statutory requirements and standards with assistance from colleagues

About You

Suitable applicants will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Electrical Engineering
  • Relevant industry experience, ideally within Electrical Engineering, is highly regarded
  • Ability to interpret and carry out instructions
  • Problem solving/analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to use basic theoretical knowledge of Engineering principles to analyse and interpret information
  • Ability to appropriately apply theoretical knowledge in practice
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in a variety of computer programs
  • Understanding of CRM principals
