ABOUT THE ROLE
This role provides the individual with a wide-ranging experience of mechanical engineering. The role will provide the graduate with 6-month rotations from three of the following key engineering departments; CAD design, Analysis, Product Integration, Validation and Mechanical Systems. A fourth rotation will be offered in a non-mechanical field to improve broadness further (Electrical, Controls and Software, Product Safety or Battery Performance).
After 2 years of rotations, progression will be offered into a permanent role within one of the engineering departments or further placement opportunities within the global business.
The role will suit individuals with a passion for electrification or other cutting-edge engineering and seeking a strong team-environment, within a high-paced, exciting culture. This is a highly engaging role, pushing the boundaries of vehicle performance and electrified powertrains into projects across engineering sectors such as Automotive and Heavy Industry.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Part of the Fortescue Zero graduate scheme, rotating within engineering departments with work including:
- Design of power systems, using CAD Siemens NX
- CAE, performing analysis/simulations with a focus on structural analysis, thermal management or vehicle performance.
- Providing support for mechanical system owners, coordinating activity and learning requirements decomposition, system DFMEAs, component specifications and reporting.
- Robust requirements capture
- Planning and then conducting validation testing on component, system or products.
- Integration activities for battery or power distribution products, including competitor benchmarking, weight or cost management, DFMEA to predict and mitigate potential issues, 8D and concern rectification.
- Escalating project risks at earliest opportunities.
- Assisting and presenting with project material and status
Our typical hybrid roles at Fortescue Zero require 3 days in the office and 2 from home, making the ability to commute to the stated office location for the required days essential.
