Responsibilities:
PURPOSE
BHP is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Mining/Geological Engineer to support the team’s contribution to leading engineering strategies, standards and frameworks that ensure the engineering process and design is optimized and enables safe, efficient construction, commissioning, and operation. The Graduate Mining Engineer will join a global cohort of like-minded graduates who will be supported, motivated, and mentored to develop the skills required to work on real business problems, and given an opportunity to create a career that will have a lasting impact on themselves and on the world.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will support the Planning & Technical team by:
- Contributing to the design, optimization, planning, and scheduling of the underground mine to support decision making for mine progression across all time horizons.
- Developing and delivering plans for mine development and production in accordance with strategic project and business objectives.
- Implementing mine design and planning systems to support the functional development of mine planning processes.
- Applying an understanding of discipline specific engineering related terminology, theory, key processes and activities (e.g., mining, geological, geotechnical, ventilation, etc.).
- Employing specific/relevant discipline engineering expertise and leadership to meet BHP’s technical expectations.
- Determining the underlying cause of problems and evaluating multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
- Identifying, engaging, and managing a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Using BHP’s risk management framework to identify and assess risks to make risk informed decisions.
Providing in field support for implementing risk controls and building a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.Planning, tracking the delivery of and managing a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
