    Position Summary
    The Department of Biomedical Informatics (dbmi.columbia.edu) at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physician and Surgeons is one of the largest and oldest informatics department in the nation, with a stellar record of education, research, and impact in patient care. The department is growing its master’s program and is seeking a Graduate Program Manager to independently manage the master’s and other educational programs. This position reports to the Department Administrator and the Graduate Program Director.
    The Graduate Program Manager is responsible for the life cycle of the recruitment and admissions processes, coordinating educational programs, advising students, and other related activities. The incumbent will independently coordinate the departmental educational initiatives including biomedical informatics master’s program, MD/MA program, training grant postdoctoral fellowship, clinical informatics fellowship, health informatics technology (HIT) certification program, and summer bootcamp.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., health education, higher education, public health, psychology, or social work) is desirable.
  • Experience in an academic environment.
  • Familiarity with Columbia University systems (Vergil, SSOL, SIS, PhDApply, Courseworks) and proficiency with ChatGPT or other Al tools is beneficial.
  • Experience in student advising

Other Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), communication platform

Responsibilities:

  1. Tracks and maintains a positive relationship with DBMI alumni.
  2. Assists with maintenance of trainee and alumni email listservs.
  3. In collaboration with the Communications Director, creates content and updates websites and other materials related to DBMI educational programs.
  4. Develops and maintains the Graduate Program Coordinator Handbook and the Student Handbook.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications
    A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience; plus, 4 years of related experience are required.
