Location: Limerick - Hybrid with 3 days a week on site to ensure a solid level of support while onboarding.

About the Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic software engineering graduate to join our innovative Data Analytics and Reporting team at Transact Campus. This role is perfect for a recent graduate who is interested in data engineering and analytics. As a graduate data engineer, you will be part of a dynamic Agile team working on the leading edge of data analytics, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure and pipelines. You will work with data from every aspect of college life in the USA, providing valuable insights and solutions that enhance the student experience.

AREAS IN WHICH YOU WILL GAIN EXPERIENCE:

  • Data Pipeline Development: Learn to develop, deploy, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Data Integration: Gain experience working with various data sources to extract, transform, and load data into our data lakehouse architecture.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement solutions.
  • CI/CD Processes: Implementation and support of continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) processes which automate data pipeline deployment.
  • Data Quality and Governance: Data quality, reliability, and security across the data platform.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Ensuring data available and properly structured for dashboards and reports.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitoring and improving the performance of data pipelines and database queries to ensure efficient data processing.
  • Machine Learning and AI: Explore and contribute to projects involving machine learning and artificial intelligence.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Interest in Data Engineering and Analytics: A strong interest in data engineering and analytics is essential.
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Experience with Python for data manipulation and automation tasks.
  • Experience using GitHub.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

BONUS SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with data processing and transformation technologies (e.g., Databricks, Apache Spark, or Snowflake).
  • Experience working with cloud services for data integration (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Google Cloud Dataflow).
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Hooks, CI/CD).
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
  • Experience working on a Scrum team.
