Description:

A future with purpose
At Arup we’re dedicated to sustainable development and to do socially useful work that has meaning. Our purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
We solve the world’s most complex problems and deliver what seems impossible, with curiosity and creativity. We’re a thriving and growing organization which offers you many possibilities to shape a better world, and your future.
As part of the Climate and Sustainability Services Portfolio (CSSP) team, you will engage in a diverse range of projects across the built environment, promoting sustainability and decarbonization efforts in sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, and transportation. The CSSP team supports large, multidisciplinary projects across the region, while also delivering focused initiatives directly with clients. In the role of Graduate Sustainability Consultant, you will support this team with technical reports, client presentations, and analysis to advance sustainable development in Canada and around the world.

The opportunity

  • Conduct research into a variety of sustainability, decarbonization, climate change, and green building practices (e.g., low-carbon materials, circular economy design, lifecycle analysis and embodied carbon, zero emission vehicles, climate resilience, policy and regulatory landscape, environment, and biodiversity etc.)
  • Assist in the development of decarbonization strategies and sustainability master planning
  • Research project-relevant low-carbon technologies and energy conservation measures
  • Coordinate the certification and compliance of projects pursuing green building standards and ratings system programs such as LEED, Zero Carbon Building Standard, Envision, and the Toronto Green Standard
  • Support technical report writing and the creation of presentation material
  • Develop sketches, charts, graphics, and other forms of data visualization and digital illustrations of sustainability concepts to visualize design strategies for client presentations and other external needs
  • Complete benchmarking for sustainability goals and standards, and GHG emissions target-setting
  • Develop GHG assessment inventories, with emissions forecasting for building and infrastructure projects

Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for graduates who are curious and ready to evolve how you think and work. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. If you can share your knowledge and ideas and encourage others to do the same; whilst having a desire to deliver excellent services for clients – we’d like to hear from you.
