Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our water team in Arup works on a wide range of projects in Ireland and internationally. Projects include flood relief schemes, network and treatment plant design and sustainable drainage design for a wide range of projects to support Arup in the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We have a wide breadth of skills and qualifications in our team and would be interested in hearing from candidates with a background in civil, structural, chemical or environmental engineering or those with environmental or science qualifications. A number of specialities and project types exist within the water and flooding team.
We’re looking for graduates who are currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in a civil, structural, chemical or environmental engineering discipline or those with environmental or science qualifications (equivalent to Level 8 in the Irish NFQ) . We also value:
- A Master’s degree within these fields would be beneficial but not essential.
- A proven ability to work within a team environment, both internally among the greater Water team and externally within project teams and with stakeholders
- Sound understanding of design principles for elements that may include SUDS, flood risk assessments, water quality assessments, water / wastewater treatment etc
- Knowledge of hydrological principles
- Strong relevant digital skills including ArcGIS
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and strong analytical skill

The duties may change depending on the specific projects but may include:
- Prepare technical designs, drawings, reports, correspondence, and other outputs in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
- Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
- Communicate effectively and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of individuals. This would typically include, but is not limited to; team colleagues and project managers, other internal design disciplines, clients and contractors
