GRANT ADMINISTRATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Grant Administrator will play a critical role in enhancing access to funds through available grants. This position will be shared between both Chrysalis and The Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts (The Nina) in a collaborative effort, equally supporting and enhancing the capacity of both organizations at both locations. Reporting to the Fund Development Managers of both Chrysalis and The Nina, this position involves writing grant proposals, submitting timely and accurate reports and supporting organizational fundraising activities, events and other projects as requested. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people, detail-oriented, and proactive in fostering a positive workplace culture.
It should be noted that this position will have flexible time and will be treated as a consultant where the successful applicant will be responsible for submitting accurate invoices at the hourly rate for time worked and remitting their own statutory requirements to the Canada Revenue Agency.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU!

  • Diploma or Degree in Communications, English, Administration or other related fields
  • Certificates in grant writing that complement a Bachelor’s Degree or graduate programs in non-profit management are a plus
  • Professional writing with outstanding grammar and research skills
  • 2 years of experience researching prospective funders and writing successful grant proposals
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills with high degree of thoroughness, accuracy and confidentiality
  • High-level interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written skills, ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to deliver project outcomes within specified parameters including time-frames, budgets and objectives
  • Ability to identify continuous improvement and innovative opportunities in processes to improve effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Must possess the ability to thrive in a busy and deadline-driven work environment that requires the coordination of multiple activities, judgement and flexibility to re-prioritize and accommodate emergency requests

Responsibilities:

Research, organize, develop compelling stories, write and manage a portfolio of grants, ranging from small family foundations to complex international funders, quasi- governmental agencies and government agencies

  • Collaborate with staff to develop a grant strategy, grant content and reports
  • Draft budgets and grant outcomes in line with organizational and department goals
  • Research additional opportunities, evaluate prospects and make recommendations
  • Manage timelines and deadlines
  • Negotiate and execute contracts as designated by management
  • Maintain grant files, both electronic and paper
  • Reconcile grant revenues with accounting
  • Uphold service commitments: a warm welcome, respect, caring, working together and trusting relationship with internal and external customers
  • Provide assistance and support attached to special events, and other fundraising initiative and activities
  • Perform other duties as may be required from time to time
