This is an exciting opportunity for a professional and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team and contribute to meaningful outcomes for current and former serving Australian Defence Force members and their families living in South Australia.
We are seeking an experienced Grants and Administration Officer with excellent administration and corporate services skills, as well as stakeholder engagement experience, to join the team. Reporting to the Director Veterans SA, this role will be responsible for provision of timely and professional grant funding advice and distribution, executive and administrative support for Veterans SA.
The successful applicant will provide day to day support to the wider Veterans SA team as well as working closely with the Chair of the Veterans Advisory Council, providing secretariat support.
This is a full-time position for up to 12 months, an opportunity to be part of a small and high achieving team that strives to make a positive impact with and for the South Australian veteran community. You will have the opportunity to have input into the creation of new approaches across the South Australian government and lead Veterans SA initiatives in collaboration with the community.

Reporting to the Director Veterans SA, this role will be responsible for provision of timely and professional grant funding advice and distribution, executive and administrative support primarily for Veterans SA and contributing to administrative support for the wider Defence SA team.

Veterans SA was established in 2008 as the first state jurisdiction to recognise the importance of a veterans’ affairs portfolio. Veterans SA is dedicated to advocacy for current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families
We work across all levels of government with private industry and with ex-service organisations and associations to advise, inform and educate on the unique nature of military service as it relates to the uniformed member and to their families, and provide information and guidance on the value and skills that this cohort of people can bring to the community.
We also play a role in sharing information about services, supports and programs that are available to veterans across the State of SA, and we provide ministerial advice to the Minister’s Office and the South Australian Government in relation to veterans’ matters, as well as administering and distributing grant funds and providing secretariat support for the Minister’s Veterans Advisory Council.
Veterans SA sits within Defence SA, a small agency that advocates for the defence and space industry sectors as well as supporting the Australian Defence Force in South Australia.

Responsibilities:
The Grants and Administration Officer is responsible for managing the provision of timely and professional grant funding, and administrative support for Veterans SA.
To assist Veterans SA to reach it outcomes, it will be necessary for the Grants and Administration Officer to:
- Undertake general administrative duties including records management, printing and collating documents.
- Manage Veterans SA enquiries inbox in conjunction with other Veterans SA staff.
- Provide support to team members for key activities including but not limited to:
- Secretariat support for Veterans Advisory Council
- Take Minutes for the Risk and Audit meetings.
- Provide logistical support for and attend events.
- Co-ordinate and administrator Veterans SA’s grant programs.
- Administrator of Anzac Day Commemoration Fund.
- Receipt of applications via SmartyGrants, collate and prepare applications for assessment panel.
- Process accounts/invoices received – using Basware system.
- Administer Veterans SA staff credit card expenses through ANZ Expense Manager System.
- Book travel for Veterans SA staff via QBT Portal and Fleet Bookings system.
The Grants and Administration Officer will have a primary focus on the Veterans SA portfolio but will provide support to the wider Defence SA team on an as needs basis.
