ARIZONA OFFICE OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) is committed to advancing Arizona’s workforce and fostering opportunities for well-paying jobs, in line with Governor Hobbs’s vision. Collaborating with state, federal, local, tribal, educational, business, labor, and community partners, OEO serves as the state’s workforce planning coordinator, conducts economic, and demographic research, and provides employment and demographic analysis.
OEO also supports the Arizona Finance Authority (AFA), ensuring streamlined financing for businesses, community infrastructure, and first-time home buyers. AFA prioritizes delivering affordable financing swiftly, serving as a one-stop resource for various financial needs to promote Arizona’s growth and development.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Federal and state statutes/laws/regulations and Agency Standard policies and procedures applicable to the areas of assignment

  • Current accepted methods, procedures, and techniques used in fiscal management, compliance, and audit, grant management, and collaboration/communication

Selective Preference(s):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a government or non-profit setting
  • Experience with WIOA or other federally funded programs is highly desirable

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Arizona State Driver’s License
  • This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Assure compliance with Federal and State grant requirements, perform field checks and/or desk audits on funded projects, provide guidance on project implementation and/or administration, verify documentation, monitor governance and compliance activities, and assist with reporting of accomplishments
  • Project management, contract selection, vendor/grantee supervision, data collection, expense tracking, performance accountability, and project tracking
  • Maintaining and preparing financial or project documents and collecting critical information needed to account for funding purposes and providing regular reports and project status to OEO management and other agencies as assigned
  • Collaborate with various entities and staff to successfully manage each of the projects within the objective of each project and provide training and/or technical assistance to staff and sub-recipients on financial management and compliance issue
